Roda do Choro

Picture

It's becoming a tradition to have a Roda do Choro at Ham Farm Festival, led by our own local Clube do Choro Bristol... so here they are, back by popular demand, for some more feel-good Choro music!

Choro is a form of Brazilian party/dance music that originated in Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century and has evolved ever since (much like jazz and New Orleans). The players typically sit in a circle, and pass the tune around amongst them, taking turns, so it's the ultimate collaborative music making experience. Good instrumentalists who want to join in can do so on some numbers, and everybody else sits or stands around the edge of the circle and listens or dances.

This is really appealing music that the whole family will enjoy. It's also a very informal type of music, so children and adults are welcome to dance, chat, and enjoy the concert however they would like to.

Check out Clube do Choro Bristol's facebook page - or come to a monthly roda!

7.30-9.30pm -
Flamenco Raíces

Picture
Flamenco charms all kinds of audiences, with its passionate and exotic blend of music and dance, but it is also a very technical art due to its complex rhythmic and visual language. Flamenco dancer Lourdes Fernández and her Company present "Raíces", which draws on, but departs from traditional flamenco in search of an eclectic style of music and dance inspired by Folk, Andalusian Copla, Jazz and other styles.

During the show, the audience will enjoy carefully studied
and rehearsed acts, but the attentive spectator will be able to capture original moments of improvisation as well. Hence, the magic of Raíces... the inspiration that unfolds and dies... unique
therefore unrepeatable... where each viewer can experience the performance through their most personal feelings.

Dance - Lourdes Fernández
Percussion- Demi García Sabat
Guitar - Adrián Solá
Voice – Mónica García
Violin – Fuensanta Zambrana-Ruiz
Dressmaking – Lázaro Fernández
This evenings performances are ticketed as a single ticket - so a single ticket will cover you for both concerts.
