It's becoming a tradition to have a Roda do Choro at Ham Farm Festival, led by our own local Clube do Choro Bristol... so here they are, back by popular demand, for some more feel-good Choro music!
Choro is a form of Brazilian party/dance music that originated in Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century and has evolved ever since (much like jazz and New Orleans). The players typically sit in a circle, and pass the tune around amongst them, taking turns, so it's the ultimate collaborative music making experience. Good instrumentalists who want to join in can do so on some numbers, and everybody else sits or stands around the edge of the circle and listens or dances.
This is really appealing music that the whole family will enjoy. It's also a very informal type of music, so children and adults are welcome to dance, chat, and enjoy the concert however they would like to.
Check out Clube do Choro Bristol's facebook page - or come to a monthly roda!
