This is an informal, family concert, held outdoors in the gardens at Ham Farm. Absolutely everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this concert, but we are making it especially autism-friendly (see below for how) and hope many families with autistic or special needs members will feel confident to come along.
This concert will be open to interaction so if you want to explore instruments by touch, sound, sight or from a distance, you are very welcome! There will be music ranging from famous classical pieces to fun TV theme tunes introducing some of the things that brass instruments can do.
The concert will have an animal-theme! So if you have any animal toys or costumes/ T-shirts that you would like to bring or wear then please do.

What does "autism friendly" mean for a concert?
In a word, non-judgemental.
There is no expectation of how you should behave as an audience member/ participant in this concert, and no judgement. If you want to sing, sing. If you want to dance, dance. Nobody will mind if you make a noise, move around, come right up close (or stay far away). And if you need any help or we can improve your experience in any way, just tell us.
1) You can choose where to sit or stand and move around to another spot whenever you like
2) There will be some sensory toys/ objects around to examine or play with if you like
3) Interaction and activities will be optional
We will create and upload by 1st July, a toolkit to help you prepare for this concert, including:
1) a downloadable Social Story
2) a video of Ellen herself speaking and explaining the concert, as well as demonstrating one of her instruments for you to give you a taster of the concert
3) a photo of the setting where the concert will take place
If there is anything else you would like us to provide for you, please get in touch and tell us!
